Position Description

 

The Area Sales Manager of Molecular Sales is responsible to lead a professional sales team consisting of high performing team of molecular sales specialists, who are responsible to close molecular and other assigned instruments in the MLS portfolio.  The sales reps are field based.  This position is responsible for growing both new and existing business by directing sales activities, cultivating a system of proactive sales and service delivery, developing strategic account plans, establishing and monitoring sales goals, and developing close administrative relationships with key accounts.  The manager will spend 50 - 75% of his/her time on business travel which includes business meetings and time spent with the sales reps and customers.

 

 

 

  • Achieve team's financial goals – sales and GP$. 

  • Accompany Molecular Specialists to conduct customer meetings & help close complex sales. Review materials in advance, providing input and coaching to the specialists

  • Provide resources to your team that helps them manage their business.

  • (Ex- sales tools, presentation coaching, ROI documents, etc.)

  • Create strategies within your geographic area to grow and retain customers within the molecular or any other assigned markets.

  • Talent Management – Assist in hiring and lead training/development of new specialists in expansion/replacement territories.  Deliver performance management including goal setting, measuring, monitoring, and assessing

  • Build/Maintain positive working relationships with field sales management/corporate accounts both within MLS, PC and with manufacturer partners 

 

 



Qualifications

Minimum Qualifications:
  • 8 years healthcare/diagnostic sales experience
  • 5 years direct/indirect sales management experience
 
Critical Skills:
  • Strong understanding of diagnostic lab environments; laboratory manufacturer, and distribution environments

  • Demonstrated, multi-department capital sales performance in diagnostic manufacturer and distribution environments, within the acute care setting

  • Strong understanding of molecular diagnostic sales, healthcare reform, and current/pending healthcare regulations

  • Proven experience developing, executing and managing sales forecasts and business plans

  • Strong leadership / management background with a high degree of motivation

 
Additional Knowledge and Skills:
  • Proven experience in field training of new sales representatives

  • MS Office proficiency

  • CRM tool experience

 
Education:
  • Bachelor's Degree or equivalent experience

 
Working Conditions:

Environment:

  • Must have a valid driver's license with an acceptable driving record.
  • Must have the ability to travel daily within a large multi-state region (up to 75%).
 
 Physical Requirements:
  • Large percent of time performing computer based work is required.
